Why do I have so much static electricity on my car?

I keep getting shocks when I touch my car, such as opening and closing doors, also outside I get shocks when I pick up iron.

Answer

Hi Jean-Pierre,

Any object can become electrostatically charged by friction. So is a car. Since there has been more and more plastic in the cars in recent years, the load is increasing. Since a car is on 4 tires that isolate the car from the ground, you are the conductor who will divert the load to the ground.

The only solution is to use a strip that connects to the ground when stationary and thus diverts the load.

Good luck
