Evolution states that through natural selection a species will adapt better to its environment. Type example: the Galapagos finches and so you come to the conclusion that the human comes from the ape. why we cannot say: an architect has been working, who has used very similar building blocks, but has always built separate and different types with them. Simply put: a moped and a car have many similar parts, but the moped has not become a car after many mutations, or a house after many mutations has become an apartment.
Answer
Dear Wim,
Thank you for your nice question.
You say it yourself: natural selection is constantly going on in nature. In other words, there is no “maker” involved (which creationists will argue, though… shh.)
A moped or a car is built by someone, so a moped cannot evolve into a car by itself. In the colloquial language you could of course speak of “descend” if it turns out that one thing came after the other.
As long as you know that it has completely different mechanisms behind it 🙂
Kind regards
