Salt, NaCl, is an important raw material for industry.
The companies use salt to make chlorine, an important raw material for the production of the monomer vinyl chloride and from it the polymer polyvinyl chloride, better known as PVC. Many other substances are also produced with chlorine, it is a complete chain. And you are also familiar with the use of road salt, that too is usually and mainly NaCl.
