Use your Apple Watch as a wireless remote for your iPhone

Your Apple Watch is much more than just a smart watch that you receive notifications on. The device works perfectly with the iPhone, so you can even use the smartwatch to operate the camera app of your iPhone.

Taking pictures of yourself from a distance is a breeze when you use the Apple Watch as a wireless remote. WANT editor Sabine is only too happy to tell you how you can get started with this.

Apple Watch: Shoot Remotely

To take photos with your iPhone via your Apple Watch, first open the Camera Remoteapp on your Watch. Your iPhone’s camera will then open by itself. Once you’ve got the settings on your iPhone’s camera app the way you want it, you’re good to go!

On the screen of the Apple Watch you can see live what your iPhone camera has in view. There is only a small delay. Via the settings next to it, you can set whether a timer of three seconds should be used, whether you want to use the selfie camera or the rear cameras of your iPhone and whether or not you want to use flash.

Camera Remote App

You can zoom in or out on the iPhone camera by turning the Digital Crown. The snapshots you have shot will appear immediately in the Photoapp from your iPhone. As soon as you get the Camera Remoteapp on your Apple Watch will also close the camera app on your iPhone.

You can take a photo via the large white button at the bottom of the screen of your smartwatch. Once you’ve taken a photo, you can instantly view it on your Apple Watch. Once you’ve created several, you can browse through them. Here too you can zoom in and out using the Digital Crown. When you’re done, press Close. Then you can continue taking pictures remotely!
