What does the inside of a chameleon’s skull look like?

I am active as a graphic designer in the music industry and for one of my new creations I am modeling a chameleon skull. However, during my online research I have discovered that detailed images of the inside of the skull are extremely difficult to find. However, since this model is part of a branding, I do want the bone construction to be consistent with reality. So I was wondering if you could help me in any way.

Answer

Dear Robin,

you can consult the internal anatomy of the skeleton of a chameleon (and many other organisms) on-line at www.digimorph.org. They make micro-CT data and 3D visualizations available from all kinds of animals that they have scanned, or that have been scanned by other researchers and made available there to the public. You can watch movies while the skeleton rotates, or you can view the sections through the skeleton in three directions. Here you will find information about the skeleton of a chameleon: http://digimorph.org/specimens/Chamaeleo_calyptratus/whole/.
