There are lights that shine red or green, for example. But can there also be black light? Or is black the absence of light anyway?
Answer
Hi Aster,
What you say to your question is immediately the answer; black is the absence of visible rays (light).
However, a note:
– There are also ‘blacklight’ lamps. These are lamps that emit mostly invisible UV light, and some visible violet light.
That UV light can be converted into visible light by certain substances that then light up more brightly.
Blacklights are used, for example, at parties and performances where some clothing becomes extra bright. These lamps are also sometimes used to check whether money notes are genuine or counterfeit.
Greetings,
Luc.
