This plant appeared in our garden this spring. To date I have not been able to identify the name and origin. Which expert can help us further?

Asker: Marcel , 47 years

Answer

Dear Marcel,

This is an Oriental Crimson Berry (Phytolacca acinosa Roxb.), easily identified by the fruit with eight loose carpels. The fruits are eaten by birds and are spread very easily in this way, so that the plant often establishes itself in gardens. Origin: China.
