iMessage or Signal? Use the Notes app to communicate!

Sending messages through your iPhone leaves a trail. That is not always important, but sometimes you just want a little more privacy. That’s why apps like Signal have become so popular in recent years.

However, there is absolutely no need to install an external app like Signal. You can also simply use your iPhone’s Notes app to communicate without prying eyes. Since this app has been around since iOS 10, you probably have it on your phone.

iPhone: secret communication trick

With your iPhone’s Notes app, you can of course keep shopping lists, take notes, and store information you don’t want to forget. But communicating with acquaintances is also a possibility in addition to all those handy functions.

Anyone you work with on a note can make changes right away. Press on the Partbutton next to a note and select Work together. Then send the iCloud link to a contact you want to share your note with. It is also possible to directly select a contact person.

Let the ‘working together’ begin

Instead of making a joint shopping list, you can also use your iPhone’s Notes app as a means of communication. Go to settings for Parts and make sure your friend can make changes too. You can also choose here that you are the only one who can add even more ‘collaborators’ or chat partners.

Your friend just has to accept the invitation. Then the conversation can officially begin. You can just type and the messages will appear in real time on your interlocutor’s iPhone. You can also set to receive notifications when the note is modified.

Messaging app like Snapchat

In addition, each of you is assigned a different color, so you can clearly see who has typed which message. In addition, there are even time messages visible, so you know exactly when your friend typed the message.

If you want to work completely secretly, you can of course delete your ‘messages’ in the Notes app from your iPhone after they have been read by the other person. So it feels a bit like Snapchat, where the messages disappear quickly and therefore do not wander around forever.
