I have a transformer 240V/24V and a transformer with a ratio of 1/1.5 with a higher power. Can I simply use the secondary voltage of the first transformer as the primary voltage for the second transformer to eventually get to 36Vac? The maximum power of the second transformer is equal to or greater than the first. … Or am I overlooking some laws of physics?
Answer
Hi Jo,
The first transformer must be a ‘normal transformer’. There should be no rectifier or anything like that.
The maximum voltage that the transformer can handle must also be higher than 36V, but that will probably be the case.
The power of the load must be lower than the power of the ‘weakest’ transformer, with some reserve.
The power of the transformers must not be identical.
