In this age of the internet and social networking sites, privacy is a vague concept. Just google it and you know almost everything about a certain person.
I myself am also a member of Netlog, Twitter, Facebook et cetera. Since privacy is one of our basic rights, I believe that only friends & acquaintances should find information about me on social networking sites and Google. But when I enter my name into Google, I see multiple search results about me. Is there a way to have the results about me removed by Google?
thanks in advance

Answer
Dear Florian,
Google only shows search results from websites on which you or someone else has put information about you (and not Google). In other words, Google itself does not put anything about you on the internet, but only refers to the information about you that is already publicly available. A random surfer could therefore in principle also find that information.
If you really want certain information about you to no longer be shown in Google results, you must first make sure that that information is no longer publicly available: by removing it from the web or by contacting the respective webmaster of the website in question. ask to get that information. As a result, Google will soon stop showing the results, but if it needs to go fast, you can simply ask Google to immediately remove the information (and also remove it from the cache).
