Does the sun always rise and set in the same place? So does she just make a wider arc to give light for longer in the summer, or do the sunrise and sunset places move further apart?
Answer
Well noticed Vincent! Indeed, the place of sunrise and sunset shifts more and more between December 21 and July 21 (beginning of summer). Then they move closer together again. The sunrise ranges roughly from the northeast (summer) to the southeast (winter) and the sunset from the northwest (summer) to the southwest (winter).
In the summer, the sun does rise higher in the sky, so that it also makes a larger arc. If you follow the attached link you will find a diagram that should make things clear.
