What will my child look like?

Female: brown eyes, dark blond hair, wavy hair, shoe size 38/39, height; 1.77, small hands, small nose, full lips, large forehead, many moles, relatively long limbs, not fat (don’t have diet), long neck, dry skin.

Man: blue eyes, blond hair, straight hair, shoe size 43, height; 1.85, small, small nose, full lips, fairly normal forehead, few moles, relatively long limbs, thin, long neck, oily skin.

I would appreciate it if you could give an approximation to these things.

Dear Chelsea,

with our current knowledge of genetics it is very difficult if not impossible to predict what a child will look like. All you can do is make educated guesses:

*hair color: brown is the dominant hair color over blond. Two people with blond hair will most likely have a blond child. Couples who both have brown hair or where one partner has blond and the other brown hair are both likely to have children with brown and blond hair (the probability depends on several reasons). For this I would also like to refer to this previously answered question: question 566 />
*eye color: brown eyes are dominant over blue eyes. As with her, blue-eyed people will have blue-eyed children, couples with both brown eyes or one brown and the other blue eyes are likely to have children with both blue and brown eyes. I would like to refer to these previously answered questions:
question 1460 /> question 1527 /> question 1436 />

With Havlicek’s formula you can approximately predict your child’s height based on the size of both parents:
For boys:
(father height + mother height) x 1.08, divided by 2
For girls:
(length father x 0.923) + height mother, divided by 2

In your case, a girl would become 1.74m according to this formula, a boy 1.96m (but these are only estimates!).

It could be that your child is a mix of both of you, but it could also be that it looks very much like one of your parents, aunts, uncles,….

Probably one will never be able to predict what a child will look like and that is perhaps a good thing, then it will always remain a surprise 🙂 The appearance of a child is not so important, as long as it is born healthy and well.
