Can a woman have a healthy child through parthenogenesis?

This message was in a women’s magazine about 30 years ago and I have always kept it. Science is always advancing, so is this really possible, or were they not that far back then. The child would then be identical with the mother.

Answer

Dear Karin,

This has never happened to date. Humans are unable to reproduce through parthenogenesis. For this, the cells must have a different life cycle and the organism must have a much simpler structure.

It could obviously represent a very feminist view where men are no longer needed.

Kind regards,

Can a woman have a healthy child through parthenogenesis?
