Is it true that a bode diagram shows the frequency of the input signal versus the phase shift and amplitude of the output signal/input?

In the context and basis for the control technique, I can’t really imagine what a bode diagram just shows.

Is it true that on the x-axis this represents the frequency of the input signal and on the y-axis represents the gain, i.e. the amplitude from output to input?

And on another graph also shows the phase shift of output relative to input, with the frequency of the input signal again on the x-axis?

Dear Yuri,

The bode diagram is a property of a linear time invariant system, and not of a signal. So we plot the frequency response of a linear system on the bode diagram, which is the division of the spectrum of the output signal by the input signal.

Note that if you apply a sine of frequency f to the input of a linear time invariant system, this sine of the same frequency appears at the output. The frequency at the input and the output are therefore the same in this case.
