Why are men more attracted to blonde women?

Best,

Blonde and blue eyes is an ideal of beauty, and both (especially) men and women would find that more attractive than other features.

Is this correct (why (not)) or is it just to be tough?

Biologically speaking, what is the first thing a man or woman looks for when looking for a partner and what scares them off? Or does it only depend on the size and muscles of the man and the width of the hips and the size of the breasts of a woman?

Asker: Michelle, 21 years old

Answer

Dear Michelle,

Blonde women have been shown to have more estrogen (female hormone); this would also make them “more fertile”. In men this is therefore “ingrained” as being a good parameter to enable reproduction. Women are less affected by this ideal image and are looking for a father for their children. Sometimes they look elsewhere for the DNA for their children. In prehistoric times, strong, muscular men were better able to find food for the family. Nowadays, a good income is more a guarantee of a stable upbringing for the children than muscle mass; for women, appearance will therefore play less of a role in the choice of partner.

The physique is also important for men, because a woman with, for example, narrow hips will have more difficulty giving birth than a woman with wider hips. A woman with an hourglass shape is therefore generally ideal for giving birth to children and being able to breastfeed them.

Kind regards,
