For the past two years I have been having a lot of trouble with the dark ladybugs (Asian?) in the house and around the house. They smell in a certain way and at night we get them on our heads when we sleep.
How do I lose them? Where and how do they nest?
Answer
Dear Hanne,
Perhaps you will indeed have to deal with the multi-coloured Asian ladybird (Harmonia axyridis) and you will mainly receive it to hibernate.
A big congratulations that you prefer not to use chemical substances: they would not only affect the ‘Asians’ but also our native fauna and, moreover, they are not recommended for health.
The most recommended way to get rid of the multi-colored Asian ladybug is to suck them up with a vacuum cleaner and then remove them.
With the warm days that are currently approaching, it is highly recommended to keep doors and windows closed as much as possible, because this exotic from Asia will probably be looking en masse for places inside homes to hibernate in the coming days.
Greetings,
Marc
