Is there a book that covers all of physics?

I am looking for a book that covers a very large part of physics, preferably with sufficient mathematical depth. So not just the explanation in words. It should also contain ample information about modern physical theories.

Answer

A “must have”.

Physics for Scientists and Engineers with Modern Physics and MasteringPhysics, 4/E
Douglas C. Giancoli

ISBN-10: 0136139221
ISBN-13: 9780136139225

or equal.

University Physics with Modern Physics with MasteringPhysics™, 12/E

Young & Freeman
©2008 | Addison–Wesley | Published: 03/23/2007
ISBN-10: 080532187X | ISBN-13: 9780805321876

The first is recently also for sale in Dutch (in two volumes). Make sure you have a copy ‘with modern physics’, there are versions in circulation without that last part.

The “Feynman Lectures on Physics” are of course also recommended.

And

“Physics” by Marcelo Alonso, Edward Finn,
Publisher: Prentice Hall
Copyright: 1992
Format: Paper; 1156 pp

is also very good, although I would only use it as a supplement to the above mentioned books. There is no recent edition and some parts seem a bit outdated.
