Working out with your Apple Watch? These are 5 essential tips

The Apple Watch is one of the most useful gadgets next to your iPhone. Not only do you receive notifications from your phone and you can pay with Apple Pay, it is also your ideal help during exercise.

You can rightly call this year special for the Apple Watch. There was not one new model, but three. In addition to the Ultra, there was also room for the Series 8 and the new SE.

Train even better with your Apple Watch

But besides the fact that the Apple Watch looks beautiful, it is also the ideal aid during sports. Still, things can still be a little better, so we give you three tips to get the most out of your workouts. You can do even better for Apple’s VP Fitness Technologies Jay Blahnik.

#1 Change your interface

During a workout, you can see detailed information on your Apple Watch, such as your heart rate and the duration of an exercise. Isn’t this what you want? Then you can change your interface so that you see different data during exercise, for example.

Consider, for example, speed, cadence, or height differences. It is very simple to change the interface. All you have to do is turn the crown of your Apple Watch.

#2 Use custom workouts

You can choose from all kinds of different workouts on your Apple Watch. Running, cycling, or walking; they are all in it. However, you can also create your own workout. For example, you can add breaks, so that you do a set for 30 seconds and rest for 30 seconds.

#3 Watch your heart rate zones

Since watchOS 9 it is possible to see your heart rate zones on your Apple Watch. These are automatically set to your age. However, you can also adjust them manually.

The heart rate zones on your Apple Watch are divided into five segments, so you can see exactly how intensive your workout is. This way you can see exactly during your training whether you should slow down or whether you can go a little harder. This way you get even more out of sports.

#4 Dive deeper into the statistics

Of course you can only monitor your time and average heart rate, but the Apple Watch keeps track of many more statistics. Do you want to know your stride length or contact time with the ground when running? The device keeps track of it all.

This makes it easier to improve your technique while walking. This allows you to easily apply the theory to practice and you become an even better runner with less chance of injuries.

#5 Use Race Route on your Apple Watch

For example, if you run, it is ideal to do it with someone. It motivates you to go faster and to persevere. Do you run alone and still want to be optimally motivated? Then comes a solution.

The company will soon come with Race Route for your Apple Watch. If you do a running route more than twice, the system will remember that. It shows the best and your most recent time. So if you are going to walk that route again you can turn on Race Route so that it competes against you. This way you can see exactly how fast you have to go. An ideal motivation!
