Best,
We have had a beetle infestation in our garden for several weeks.
These fly half a meter above the grass.
Can you tell us which beetle this is and/or whether it is harmful to nature?
Should this beetle be controlled and how can this best be done?
Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hey,
This looks like a carob beetle or rose beetle (Phyllopertha horticola). The larvae eat grass roots, but since these have fully hatched, ‘the damage has already been done’.
Within a few weeks you will no longer see the beetles, so I would say: let nature do it. No reason to start eradicating these beetles.
Regards,
Christine
