The do’s and don’ts for cleaning your iPhone

If you have an iPhone, one thing is certain: your phone will get dirty. It is therefore recommended to clean the device regularly. But what should you do, and what not? We tell you.

Your iPhone is probably what you touch the most every day. As a result, the device is also a hotbed of bacteria. So it pays to clean it regularly. But how do you do that now, and what better not to do?

This is how you clean your iPhone

Let’s start with the best way to clean your iPhone. Here are all the steps you need to take. First of all, it is of course logical that you turn off your phone. Also remove all accessories that are in and around the phone. Done? Then we can really get started!

  1. Wipe your iPhone with a clean microfiber cloth and slightly dampen it with water if necessary.
  2. To disinfect your iPhone, you then use a (handkerchief) cloth with alcohol.
  3. Use a toothpick or skewer to clean hard-to-reach areas. Be careful not to pierce the grilles, microphones and other important parts with that stick.

If you have followed these steps, your iPhone is completely clean and ready for use again. Of course it will get dirty again in no time, so it is useful to repeat these steps regularly.

Other ways to clean your iPhone

There is also another way to clean your iPhone. There are special UV sterilizers for sale. This then kills 99 percent of bacteria by shining a high dose of UV light on the phone for five to 10 minutes.

Of course you can also choose to use a screen protector. This is how you keep the screen of your iPhone clean. Of course you have to clean the protector itself regularly.

You should not do this at all

Well, you now know what you should do, but there are also a number of things that you should not do. It goes without saying that you remove all cables. It is also important not to use an air pressure cleaner or compressed air.

The last tip, but certainly not the least important, is that you should absolutely not use any cleaning agent other than alcohol. So leave the bleach and hydrogen peroxide in the cupboard and don’t use them. These agents can seriously damage the iPhone.
