Is your iPhone’s message inbox also flooded with annoying spam messages? Thanks to this super handy feature in the Messages app, you will no longer be bothered by that. We are only too happy to explain how that works.
Spam messages on your iPhone come in all shapes and sizes. They often have one goal: to make easy money. The messages state that you have won a prize or that you have to pay a fine. Although we all know that we can never just click on one shady link, it is irritating to receive this spam.
Spam killer for iPhone
It often makes little sense to block the numbers of spam messages. The sender simply uses a different number. Fortunately, Apple has a solution for that. Your iPhone has a handy spam filter. That’s how you set it up.
Go to Settings and press Messages. Scroll down and put under Message filter the slider Filter unknown senders at. Go back to settings and press notifications. Scroll down again and press Messages. Now press Customize notifications and make sure the slider is behind Unknown senders is turned off.
Now open the Messages app on your iPhone. Press Filters in the top left and select Unknown senders to see messages from senders not in your contacts. You can just as easily switch back to your core messages.

Small side note
You will still receive spam messages on your iPhone, but you will no longer be bothered with them. You will not receive any notifications and they will appear in a separate folder. Super fine, although there is a small sidenote.
The folder for unknown senders will also contain messages from companies, such as text messages with updates from your speed camera driver or security codes to log in somewhere. It is smart to add these senders to your contacts or to regularly check the folder with unknown senders. Otherwise, you may miss an important update!
