Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Series 8: get more out of your battery

Apple’s smart clock is indispensable for many people for health, but also things like tasks and notifications. But the power supply of, for example, the Apple Watch Ultra and Series 8 still wants to drain quickly. This way you can easily get more out of your battery.

That whole smart watch on your wrist does very little if there is no mess left in it. While the Apple Watch Ultra is master of the pack when it comes to battery life and the Series 8 certainly matters, they don’t last forever. Still, there are easy tweaks to get more out of the jug.

Apple Watch tricks for your battery

These simple tips certainly don’t only apply to the Apple Watch Ultra. The Series 8 and SE 2 also have a major battery advantage due to these tweaks. They do not reach the time of the Ultra, but that does not detract from the fact that they can easily get through the day with simple settings. And that even applies to older models.

Technically, the Ultra now gets 36 hours of battery life. The Apple Watch Series 8 and SE 2 get about (in good conditions) about 18 hours. These results came from tests with watches connected to Bluetooth, but they also used GPS and SIM cards. Tough tasks that consume a lot of energy.

And yet it’s easy to keep them alive a little longer with these simple adjustments.

#1 Change the charging times

One of the reasons people benefit from the Apple Watch is because it helps track sleep. For this it is necessary to wear the watch when you are in bed.

The problem, however, is that we are used to using the watch during the day and hanging it on the charger at night. It’s not necessary. Feel free to wear your Apple Watch while you sleep and put it on the charger during your morning routine during a coffee and shower, during lunch and in the evening during dinner.

Then it is really sufficiently charged for the day.

#2 Stop moving!

Now we certainly don’t want to say that you should stop exercising, but the Apple Watch is inclined to measure if you walk longer than ‘normal’. Sometimes that is certainly the case, but sometimes it is not. Perhaps a friend or family simply lives a little further away, and then your Apple Watch starts calculating.

Before WatchOS tells you that you ‘might’ be exercising, you can nip it in the bud. To do this, swipe to the right during a walk that does not fall under sport and you will see the ‘workout’ already running. There you can stop it and thus save battery.

#3 Turn off new features to save battery

As nice as it is that Apple comes out with many cool features with every update, there is a good chance that you will certainly not use them all. They are probably on though. So check which new skills you have received and whether you use them. And then turn them off.

#4 Turn off your screen when you don’t need the Apple Watch

Apart from the fact that the Apple Watch Ultra and Series 8 have an ‘always on display’, the watches (including the old ones) always turn on when you move your wrist upwards. That consumes a lot of energy. Therefore, set your Apple Watch to a more economical mode so that it doesn’t always light up brightly when you happen to make a certain movement.

To do this, go to the settings on your Apple Watch, click on your Settingsthereafter Screen and Brightness after which you Always on and Activate on wrist lift can turn off.

#5 HELLO SIRI? Shhhh

The Apple Watch has a very nice feature, and it’s called Siri. But Siri takes quite a bit of energy. She is always on the lookout. You can easily disable this feature.

To do this, go to the Siri app on your iPhone. Here you can Listen to Siri, Lift to speak and Press the Digital Crown easy on and off. That saves a lot of battery because your Apple Watch is not constantly busy with your surroundings.

With these small tweaks you can easily get more out of your smart watch. And if you need even more Apple Watch tips, you’ll find them here.
