Many devices nowadays communicate wirelessly, but sometimes you prefer a cable for communication. If you are looking for a USB-C cable for connecting USB-C devices over a longer distance, ACT has them available in lengths of 3 m, 5 m, 7.5 m and no less than 10 meters.
The Dutch brand ACT has come up with a solution for connecting USB-C devices over a longer distance of up to 10 metres: USB-C Active Optical Cables. These AOC cables have cores made of copper and a Kevlar-protected fiber optic that ensure that the optimal signal is maintained over the entire cable length.
USB-C Active Optical Cables
The USB Implementers Forum indicates 2 meters as the maximum length of a high quality USB-C cable with copper wires. When this length is exceeded, the chance of malfunctions and errors is very high. USB-C AOC cables maintain the optimal signal for data, video and power up to 10 meters. The cables support data and video transfer up to 10 Gbps, Power Delivery up to 20V @ 3A = 60W and DisplayPort Alternate Mode up to 4K @ 60Hz.
The cables are suitable for sensitive applications due to the low electromagnetic and radio frequency interferences.
Advantages USB-C Active Optical Cables:
– suitable for distances up to 10 meters
– USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 for data and video transfer up to 10Gbps
– full support of 4K @ 60Hz
– optimal speed and signal
– 60W Power Delivery support
– resistant to RFI/EMI
– available in lengths: 3 m, 5 m, 7.5 m and 10 m
Usage
The cables are very suitable for use in classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, hospitals and sometimes also in workplaces (at home). For example, these ACT AOC USB-C cables are good to use for sensitive applications due to the low EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference): the highly sensitive equipment in hospitals requires cabling without the risk of electromagnetic interference or disturbances due to radio frequencies.
Meeting rooms are often equipped with conference cameras and screens that have a touchscreen. It is important to use data, video and power simultaneously without interruption. Smartboards or digiboards are often used in classrooms and lecture halls. These digital boards are connected to the teacher’s laptop over a longer distance. All functionalities of these smart boards must continue to work flawlessly over this longer distance.
Additional feature
The USB 3.2 Gen2 AOC is compliant with USB 3.1, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and USB 1.1.
