You can add a description to prevent group conversations in WhatsApp from being overflowing with all sorts of things. This way the chat remains clear.
Name group conversation
Group conversations in WhatsApp are useful because you can message several people at once. Many group conversations at some point are no longer about the purpose for which they were founded; before you know it, recipes or photos of pets are being exchanged. Not everyone is waiting for that.
Create group conversation description
By adding a description, you can reduce the bits and pieces in a conversation. For example, put in the description: ‘This group app is only for passing on messages about the billiard club.’ If you still want to chat about anything and everything, create another group conversation for that.
Add a description like this:
- Open WhatsApp on the phone.
- Tap the tab chats.
- Tap the name of the group conversation to add a description.
- At the top, tap the group conversation name again.
- Tap on add group description (Android) or Add group description (iPhone).
- Type a description. This description is visible to all members of the group and can be 512 characters long.
- Tap on OK (Android) or Keep (iPhone).
A message appears in the chat that the group description has been changed. All members in the group will see this and can tap the notification to read the description. New members of the group will see the description as soon as they are added to the conversation.
