Adjust contrast for more readable screen

higher-contrast display Increase the contrast on the device and get a clearer difference between the text and the background.

On different devices, users can set a higher contrast. This makes the contrasting colors stronger, making the text more visible.

Windows 10 uses a special color scheme with the “High Contrast” feature. Adjust the color combinations to your liking.

  • Click the Start button (with the Windows logo, in the lower left corner of the screen).
  • click on Institutions Settings Windows 10.
  • click on Accessibility.
  • click on High Contrast.
  • Under ‘Turn on high contrast’, click the slider to turn the contrast on.
  • The screen changes: the background becomes black. You can adjust the color scheme. Under “Choose a theme,” click the arrow to bring up a drop-down menu.
  • There are four options. Click on one of the options and you will see exactly which colors the screen will have. The options are:
    • High Contrast #1
    • High Contrast No. 2
    • Black – High Contrast
    • White – High Contrast
  • The colored rectangles represent the color of each element. Click on a color to change it and then on Ready.
  • Scroll down if necessary and click To apply.

Back to normal view again? Under ‘Turn on high contrast’, click the slider to turn the high contrast off again.

    Windows 11 includes several so-called contrast themes. You can try it out without obligation. That’s how it works:

    • Click the Start button in the Taskbar.
    • click on Institutions. That’s the gear icon.
    • click on Accessibility.
    • click on Contrast themes.
    • Click on the drop-down menu next to ‘Contrast themes’.
    • Four options will appear, namely ‘Aquatic’, ‘Desert’, ‘Twilight’ and ‘Night Sky’. Click on one of these themes.
    • click on To apply. After a short wait, Windows 11 activates the contrast theme.
    • Do you want to adjust the colors slightly? Then click on To process and change the colors of various parts at your own discretion. Click at the top Contrast themes to go back to the previous screen.

    Back to normal view again. Click on the drop-down menu behind ‘Contrast themes’ and choose No. Then click To apply.

    Increase the contrast on the Mac (as of OS X 10.10 Yosemite) as follows:

    • Click on the Apple logo in the menu bar.
    • click on System Preferences > Accessibility.
    • click on Display.
    • Put a tick in front of Increase contrast.

    The result is immediately visible. For example, the Dock and menu bar are a lot less transparent.

    To increase the contrast between the background and text:

    • Tap on Institutions.
    • Tap on Accessibility.
    • Tap on Display and text size.
    • Tap the slider behind ‘Increase contrast’.

    The slider turns green and the function is on. If necessary, turn the function off again via the slider. Read more useful settings here for better readability.

    On Android devices, the contrast of letters and the keyboard can be set separately.

    • Open the app Institutions.
    • Tap on Accessibility > Visibility improvements.
    • Tap the slider behind ‘High contrast fonts’.
    • The letters get darker. Tap the slider behind ‘High contrast keyboard’.
    • Under ‘High contrast keyboard’, tap Yellow.
    • There are four color combinations for the keyboard. Tap each option and you will see what the keyboard looks like.
    • Tap the arrow in the top left to go back to the settings.
    • Not using the function? Then tap again on the sliders behind ‘High contrast fonts’ and ‘High contrast keyboard’.
