Agon presents 170Hz screen with 21:9 canvas and HDR

Agon by AOC, a brand that specializes in gaming monitors, announces the Agon Pro AG344UXM. This is a 34 inch (86.4 centimeters) monitor, which has a mini LED backlight and a refresh rate of 170 Hertz.

Thanks to that mini LED background, the screen has 1,152 dimming zones, which can light up or turn off individually to achieve local areas within the same frame in pitch black or sections lit at a peak brightness of 1000 nits.

With the color-accurate IPS panel, the AG344UXM offers wide viewing angles of 178°/178°, 10-bit color depth and wide gamma coverage of 99 percent DCI-P3 and 100 percent sRGB. There is also a refresh rate of 170 Hertz and a 1 ms GtG response time. GtG stands for grey-to-grey.

The Agon Pro AG344UXM

The Agon Pro AG344UXM also has several ports on board. With DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 connectivity, you can connect the monitor to the latest generation of GPUs or current generation of game consoles.

In addition, the AG344UXM features a USB-C input, which supports display signal transmission at 170Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color, while simultaneously providing 90W USB Power Delivery. This means that you can connect a high-end laptop or a powerful mini PC, which gets their power through the screen. The product also doubles as a USB hub, with four available USB ports and a USB-B upstream port.

You can use the wide screen for two things. You can of course play games on it, while you get to see more of the digital environment. But these types of screens are also extremely suitable for multitasking while working or studying.

The timeline in video editing software is much more visible at a glance on a wide monitor like the AG344UXM. For daily tasks, two applications fit side by side, without having the idea of having to sacrifice space. The screen also has two eight-watt DTS speakers.

In terms of design, Agon by AOC is especially proud of the three-sided frameless front, with red accents on the back. For more customization, the LightFX RGB lighting on the back can be synced with other AOC peripherals using the G-Menu software. In terms of ergonomics, the AG344UXM’s sturdy metal stand offers plenty of tilt and swivel options.

The OSD settings of the AG344UXM can be adjusted using the wired remote control (QuickSwitch), the 5-way joystick on the back or the aforementioned G-Menu software. This allows you to select one of six special game modes, change settings such as AOC Game Color (saturation), Dial Point (crosshair overlay), FPS counter or LowBlue mode, among other things.

Agon Pro AG344UXM will be available from July 2022 for a suggested retail price of 1,849 euros.
