Updating firmware from Beats products
All beats with a W1, H1 chip or newer can update you in the above way. You can provide the other ‘older’ beats with a new firmware version using the Beats Updater tool. You can read how it works exactly here back.
Automatically works best
Are it unable to update the AirPods or AirPods Pro in the above way? Then use the automatic way. You do this by keeping your airpods near your device and charging. Do this longer than the prescribed 30 minutes, in the end the firmware version will be installed.

If this is not the case, it is best to force the AirPods to restart and then repeat the steps above or wait until the AirPods are automatically updated in a ‘natural’ way.
