Android 13 will probably be launched in September

Google has the release notes for Android 13 and suggesting an Android 13 launch in September.

Launch Android 13

Google has already tested Android 13 quite extensively, and we are in the final phase of it. We now have to wait for the official launch and we hoped that it would take place in August. Especially since the Android 13 beta program started so early, and there were only two developer previews prior to the betas.

Still in September?

The release notes of this new Android version, however, indicate a launch in September. It states: “This Android Security Release Notes contains details of security vulnerabilities affecting Android devices which are addressed as part of Android 13. Android 13 devices with a security patch level of 2022-09-01 or later are protected against these issues .”

The security level that is being discussed is on September (09) and that would mean that Android 13 will be announced in that month. It could equally well be about the AOSP (Android Open Source Project), so for now all possibilities are still open. A bit of history: Android 12 was announced on October 4, 2021, and the Pixel phones didn’t get the update until two weeks later. Android 10 and Android 11 were launched in September, and Android 8 and Android 9 in August.

After the launch of Android 13 for Google phones, other smartphone manufacturers will share their update plans for the launch of Android 13 for their phones. In the meantime, developers need to make their apps suitable for Android 13. With this upcoming Android version, updating apps has become more important than ever.
