On the iPhone/iPad, photos come to life with the Live Photo feature. Viewing becomes extra fun with the effects.
Live Photo
With Live Photo, users capture what happens 1.5 seconds before and after the photo is taken. This is how you get a moving photo; the whole moment. This feature is available from the iPhone 6S and the fifth-generation iPad.
Turn Live Photo on and off
Easily turn Live Photo on or off:
- Tap the app Camera.
- Tap the icon of white circles with a line in the top right to turn the function on. The circles turn yellow and Live Photo is turned on.
- Switch off? Tap the yellow circles icon at the top right . The circles turn white and Live Photo is turned off.
Take Live Photo
Take a Live Photo like this:
- Tap the app Camera.
- Check if Live Photo icon is yellow . Tap the white circles icon if it isn’t .
- Tap the white button at the bottom of the window.
- The photo was taken.
View Live Photo
Live Photos are stored in the same place as regular photos, namely in the Photos app.
- Tap the app photos.
- Tap a photo. A Live Photo has the word ‘Live’ in the top left corner.
- Tap the photo, slightly harder than usual, and hold your finger on the photo while it plays.
Effects Live Photo
Optionally, set an effect (from iOS 11). For example, have a Live Photo play continuously.
- Tap the app photos.
- Tap a photo using the Live Photo feature.
- Swipe the photo from bottom to top.
- Multiple effects appear. ‘Live’ is the default of Live Photo. The photo moves when you press it. With ‘Repeat’, the images from the Live Photo will be displayed again and again. With ‘Bounce’ the images play from front to back and then back to front again. Finally, ‘Long exposure’ gives an extra effect of time and movement.
- Tap the desired option.
- The option is set. Repeat the steps if you still want a different effect.
