Apple acquires AI company – here’s why it’s good news

Apple seems to be investing heavily in AI, as they recently acquired the company DarwinAI. What is Apple planning to do with this?

Apple acquires AI company

Apple already acquired the DarwinAI company earlier this year. They mainly did this to expand their own AI team, according to Bloomberg. DarwinAI has created artificial intelligence to inspect parts during the production process. They also have experience with some other, smaller AI systems.

DarwinAI’s websites and social media accounts have now been taken offline following the acquisition by Apple. And many parts of DarwinAI have now been incorporated into Apple’s AI department. Alexander Wong (one of the people who created DarwinAI) is now one of the directors in Apple’s AI group.

Tim Cook has previously said that Apple plans to focus heavily on AI in 2024. This will probably happen in iOS 18. The fact that Apple has now acquired the DarwinAI company means that they also have more and more resources to introduce AI.

Many features in iOS 18 will get a major upgrade thanks to AI. For example, Siri will become a lot better and, according to rumors, there will be an AI health coach in the Health app and on the Apple Watch. Want to know what other AI features will come in iOS 18? Then read the article below.

iOS 18 major update

Darwin is not an unknown name at Apple. Darwin OS is an operating system first released by Apple in the year 2000. It is still the core of the underlying Unix operating system that powers MacOS, iOS, iPadOS and more. DarwinAI seems to be the next step in Apple’s evolution.
