With the arrival of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, tvOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1, Apple has finally made a distinction in the TV application between series you are watching and media you would like to watch.
Previously, all series and films were lumped together in the Next list. This not only caused a lot of confusion, it was also very confusing. Thanks to the adjustments, you can now easily see which media you have in your watch list and which media you are watching.
Look further and watch list TV app
Apple has made a distinction in the TV app between series you are watching and media you would like to watch. From now on you will find ‘Look further‘ the films and series that you are watching, but have not yet fully finished. Handy for your Apple TV+ series and films, but also content from other streaming services such as HBO Max, ViaPlay and Prime.

Parts that you have added to watch later, but have not yet started, can be found from the aforementioned software updates under ‘Watch list‘. Both parts can be consulted from the Home page on your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac.
Adjust tab bar
Also new is the tab bar that you can customize on an iPad. Maybe you haven’t seen the tab bar yet, but you probably always use your iPad in landscape orientation. The tab bar in the TV app is only visible when you use the iPad horizontally. For some other apps it is also visible in landscape orientation.

As a user you can change the tab bar and add or remove items. Apple wouldn’t be Apple by limiting this. You can’t remove important features like Apple TV+, but you can add or remove other options if desired.
- Open the TV app
- Turn your iPad horizontally
- Tap the sidebar icon
- Tap Edit in the sidebar
- Drag the desired items out or into the tab bar
You can apply this not only in the TV app, but also in other applications that use this interactive tab bar, even third-party apps. However, you cannot customize the tab bar in all applications.
