The update for the MacBook Air with M4 chip is limited, which only improved the specifications. For example, the design of the MacBook Air has not changed and is still available in two different sizes. For example, you can choose from a 13.6-inch display or a MacBook Air with a 15.3-inch screen.
MacBook Air 2025
The design of the MacBook Air with M4 chip is similar to the previous generation. This way the laptop retains its slim design and housing of aluminum. Furthermore, the screen contains a notch for the renewed 12MP camera with Center Stage (center).
The MacBook Air is available in the colors midnight, star light, silver and the new sky blue. In addition, you can choose from a 13.6-inch or 15.3-inch display with or without nanotexture.
Although the appearance remains largely unchanged, the new MacBook Air mainly offers internal improvements, including the powerful M4 processor.

The M4 was the first to be added to the iPad Pro in the spring of 2024 and only in the fall to the iMac, Mac Mini and MacBook Pro. The powerful GPU of the M4 line is a big step forward for the graphic architecture of Apple Silicon.
The GPU is faster, more efficient and uses the Dynamic Caching technology. Moreover, thanks to this GPU, functions such as Ray Tracing and Mesh Shading with hardware acceleration are possible with rendering on Mac. This is primarily a big plus when gaming on a Mac.
The M4 chip is designed using a 3NM manufacturing process. This is an advanced production technology that is used to make semiconductor chips. A 3nm process means that the transistor gate is only 3 nanometer wide, explaining what is so special about it.
The size of the transistor gate is important because it determines how many transistors can be placed on a single chip. The smaller the transistor gate, the more transistors fit on the chip. This leads to chips that are faster, more efficient and more powerful than chips produced with larger processes. This makes them perform better with the same specifications. The previous generations of Apple chips used a 5NM process.
