With Apple Intelligence in Mail you can handle e-mail messages in an automated way. Not only can you use writing aid to prepare outgoing messages, you can also use all kinds of other tools.
For example, the Mail app has a different design with smart automated categories, priority messages and smart answers. You can also summarize long e-mails with one tap on the button. You can use these new options on the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Vision Pro.
Support Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence can currently be used via a detour in the EU and can also be used in the EU from macOS 15.1, iOS 18.4, iPados 18.4 and Visionos 2.4 when you change the language of your device and Siri to English vs. All supporting devices and languages ​​can be found here.
New design for mail
Together with Apple Intelligence, Apple introduces a new design for mail. The app is not changed very drastically, but you will experience some changes. From now on you will find smart categories at the top with, among other things, primary, invoices, updates and promotions.
Do you not want to use the categories? Then you can disable them by clicking/tapping the overview on the dots at the top of your inbox and choosing ‘List View’.

Priority
From now on you will find an overview with priority reports at the top of the inbox. These can be recognized by the Apple Intelligence logo with colored background. Through this overview you can quickly view your most urgent e -mails, such as an entry -level card or an invitation to go out for dinner the same evening.
You can enable priority messages on an iPhone or iPad using the steps below.
- Open the Mail app
- Tap the three dots next to ‘Select’
- Choose ‘Show Priority’

On a Mac you can activate this via the menu bar in the Mail app â–¸ View â–¸ Show Priority.
Smoke
The Smart Answer (Smart Reply) function helps you to quickly prepare an answer to ensure that you have answered everything. The function views the content of the e-mail message and proposes some suggestions that you can use immediately.
On an iPhone or iPad you will find the smart answers immediately at the top of the keyboard after you have ticked the answer button. On a Mac of Vision Pro, click on the ‘Message’ field and choose a presented answer in the pop-up menu.
Summarize e-mail
Another important function within the Mail app is the generation of summaries. This is not only possible manually for complex e-mails and long message series, but also automatically. Mail will automatically display summaries in the ‘incoming’ mailbox. That way you immediately know what the message is about. Do you want to manually view a summary of an e-mail message? Then follow the steps below
- Open an e-mail message in Mail
- Scroll down if necessary
- Click or tap the message at the top of ‘Summarge’ (Summarize)
- Apple Intelligence is going to work

A summary appears above the e-mail. If the e-mail is part of a message series, the content of the message series is summarized.
Do you want to automatically eliminate the automatic generation of e-mail entertainment? Then go on an iPhone or iPad to Settings â–¸ Apps â–¸ Mail â–¸ Submit the option ‘Save pre -densons of messages together’ (Summarge Message Previews) On or off.
