It doesn’t really matter who you address on the street. The chance that Apple Park in Cupertino will ring a bell is quite high. Not surprising, because the gigantic complex with the round building quickly manages to attract attention.
Still, there are quite a few people who don’t have a lot to say about it. No problem, because that is exactly the reason that I can just eat a meal every night. Time to list a few interesting facts for you.
#1 Apple Park is so gigantic
Apple Park is a gigantic complex. The domain around the main building is 71 hectares in total. The main building itself, you know the futuristic building, has four floors and an area of 260,000 square meters.
#2 100% green energy
Apple presents itself as a very environmentally conscious company and this is certainly reflected in its headquarters. Besides the fact that the campus is equipped with an incredible amount of greenery, the company also uses 100% green energy. In addition, it does not need to use air conditioning because of a convenient solution. The building breathes, as it were, and is equipped with all kinds of pipes that are filled with water. In this way the temperature always remains comfortable.

#3 Everything for health
In addition to focusing on the health of the planet, Apple also focuses on the health of its workforce. This can be seen, for example, in the gigantic fitness center that Apple Park has. In total, the space is 9290 square meters. In addition to plenty of sports options, this space also includes a dental practice.
#4 Apple Park: an idea from 2011
Apple Park didn’t open its doors until 2017, but the idea for the headquarters was born much earlier. In fact, the vision for the futuristic building came from Steve Jobs and Jony Ive. The latter played a major role in the actual design of the building. In 2011, Jobs spoke to the Cupertino City Council about building the campus.
#5 12,000 employees
Apple Park is huge, so it makes sense that it also has an awful lot of employees. Recent figures show that there are currently more than 12,000 employees working at the headquarters. Provided they are all allowed to come to the office, of course.
#6 One of the most expensive buildings in the world
If you look closely at Apple’s headquarters and its gigantic environment, you will immediately understand that it is not a cheap trick. Very well seen, because Apple Park is one of the most expensive buildings in the world. Where One World Trade Center in New York cost $3.9 billion, the cost for the headquarters is estimated at $3.6 billion. If you add all the computers, office equipment and furnishings, you come to an amount of $ 4.17 billion.

#7 Apple Park: completely customized
Norman Foster and Jony Ive paid attention to every little detail when designing Apple Park. The result? Everything is completely custom made and 100% unique. Everything you’ll find in Apple Park, right down to the pizza boxes, has been redesigned.
#8 Impressive glass
Not only the environment and appearance, but also the glass in the futuristic head office is impressive. For example, Apple Park has the largest curved glass panels in the world.
#9 Enough charging stations for your electric car
Charging your electric car causes problems in many places in the world. In Cupertino, however, that is not the case. There are 300 charging stations on Apple’s campus, where company employees can fully charge the battery of their vehicles.
#10 Apple Park: cycling for your life
If you don’t have an electric car, you can also use a bicycle. There are no fewer than 1000 bicycles on the site and about 2000 places where employees can store them.
