Whether you benefit from Apple TV+ for a few months thanks to the purchase of an Apple product, via your Canal+ offer, or even directly via a classic subscription, you are probably wondering which films are worth seeing this summer. Let us tell you the ten best currently on offer.
When it comes to selecting the best films from Netflix, Prime Video or even Canal+, our mission is not always obvious as there are so many choices. Concerning Apple TV+ on the other hand, despite a growing catalog (and this should quickly accelerate), the possibilities are much more restricted. In fact, the brand only offers films of its own making, which necessarily severely limits the choice. However, in order to avoid the few average films and especially the rare bad ones, here is our selection of the best films offered by Apple on its SVoD platform!
And if you are more curious about series (also always more numerous and often of quality), head to our selection of the best series on Apple TV+!
Tetris
Available since the end of last March, the biopic Tetris is carried, like the Black Bird series from Apple TV+, by Taron Egerton. The actor plays Henk Rogers, the man thanks to whom one of the most famous video games on the planet came out of the Soviet Union and then flooded the world. The result seems nice, if not really breaking bricks (sorry).

USS Greyhound: The Battle of the Atlantic
In addition to the science fiction film Finch, Tom Hanks is starring in the feature film USS Greyhound: The Battle of the Atlantic for Apple TV+. As its name suggests, it is a historical drama set during World War II. The actor plays the captain of an American ship responsible for escorting an Allied convoy attacked by German submarines. Very effective in its genre, notably thanks to successful special effects and solid action scenes.

The year the Earth changed
Apple TV+ offers some documentary films. The year the Earth changed is one of them.
Narrated (in original language) by David Attenborough, it focuses on the reaction of nature, both fauna and flora, during global confinement. A real breath of fresh air guaranteed without humans which should particularly please those who enjoyed the Netflix documentary series Our Planet.
Average IMDb rating: 8.2/10
Coda
The first Apple TV+ film to win several Oscars (and many other awards), including Best Film in 2022, Coda is a remake of the French film The Bélier Family. Directed by Sian Heder, the feature film focuses on a family where only young Ruby (Emilia Jones) is hearing. She dreams of music, but cannot bring herself to abandon her loved ones to fully live her passion.
Average IMDb rating: 8/10
Boys State
Boys State is a documentary, awarded at Sundance in 2020, focusing on an atypical event that only the United States is capable of producing. Every year, a group of a thousand 17-year-old boys meet in Austin to elect a governor from among themselves and establish a representative government despite their differences.
Average IMDb rating: 7.6/10
Palmer
The synopsis of the film Palmer is concise: A former inmate befriends a young boy abandoned by his junkie mother. Justin Timberlake plays this ex-prisoner locked up for 12 years, in a drama that is perhaps not very original in substance, but nevertheless devilishly relevant, touching and effective.
Average IMDb rating: 7.2/10
The Tragedy of Macbeth
The play Macbeth is undoubtedly one of the most adapted works on the planet. Yet you’ve probably never seen William Shakespeare’s tragedy like in this 2021 version by Joel Coen (for the first time without his brother). Featuring an atypical visual format and entirely in black and white, this feature film is also nice in terms of casting since we find Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand in particular.
Average IMDb rating: 7.1/10
The child, the mole, the fox and the horse
Awarded an Oscar and a BAFTA (in particular), The Child, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse is an animated film as short as its title is long. For 30 minutes, it involves following a strange group linked by friendship and a simple quest: finding a home. On the voice side, in VO we find the experienced actors Tom Hollander, Gabriel Byrne and Idris Elba.
Average IMDb rating: 7.8/10
The Banker
Head to the 60s with The Banker. Inspired by real events, this feature film directed by George Nolfi focuses on two African-American entrepreneurs (Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson). The latter decided to develop a bold system of access to housing to combat racism in this sector.
Average IMDb rating: 7.3/10
Flora and son
Recently released on Apple TV+, Flora and Son is the latest film directed, written and composed by John Carney (Sing Street). In this necessarily slightly musical drama, it follows a single mother (Eve Hewson) on bad terms with her son. While she tries to find a hobby for him to distract him from your thief attitude, she finds an abandoned guitar in a trash can.

Many months after its launch, the manufacturer does not have much to be ashamed of its platform. Certainly, the catalog remains light compared to the competition, but the series are all excellent. The service has opened up a little to third-party media and the video quality is undoubtedly the best currently available on the market. However, with its new high price, Apple is offering more than ever a dispensable product, but one that is worth trying at least for a few unmissable shows.
