Apple Watch Series 8: sensor for measuring body temperature
The rumor is reported by reliable Apple insider Mark Gurman. In his weekly newsletter, he writes that the Apple Watch Series 8 – which is likely to be released in September – can warn the wearer that he or she has a fever.
The latest smartwatch can do this thanks to a new built-in sensor, which measures body temperature. Gurman expects the sensor to be available for both the standard Apple Watch Series 8 and the new rugged edition, which is aimed at extreme sports practitioners. The body temperature sensor will probably not come with the new Apple Watch SE.
No specific measurement
The function for measuring the body temperature is also limited. According to Gurman, he does not give a specific reading, like a thermometer does. The Apple Watch warns a user if he thinks they have a fever, but you don’t see a temperature. “The Watch may recommend talking to a doctor or using a special thermometer,” Gurman expects.
The function for measuring the body temperature seems to be the biggest innovation of the Apple Watch Series 8. Other than that, probably little will change. However, according to Gurman, there is internal discussion at Apple about updated screens. “I hope they’re brighter,” he says.
It certainly seems that the chip is the same as with the Apple Watch Series 7. It is also expected that nothing will change in the design. We will probably know more in September, because in that month Apple traditionally organizes an event in which the latest Apple Watch is announced. Apple will also unveil the new iPhone 14 series.
Three Apple Watch models
For the first time, Apple is revealing no fewer than three different Apple Watch models, it seems. First of all, there is the Apple Watch Series 8, the new high-end smartwatch from Apple. There will also be a robust version for athletes. A new version of the Apple Watch SE is also expected. This smartwatch has fewer functions, but is therefore also a lot cheaper.
