As an Apple Watch owner, you may have seen them before: the red or green snakes. The visual alerts show that something is going wrong while charging the smart device. What can you do about that? We’ll walk you through the options in this article.
When you see a red snake on the screen of your Apple Watch, it means that the device has no more energy. You can recognize the snake by a red lightning bolt, with a long USB cable attached to it (from a distance it looks a bit like a snake). If you see this on the display, then you need to charge the Apple Watch.
In addition, there is also a green lightning bolt that you can encounter. This shows that there is power present in the Watch, but that there is too little energy to be switched on. What can you do against both messages?

Making Apple Watch snakes go away
The first solution we suggest is to use an official USB adapter from Apple. That is the kind of block that you plug into the socket, into which the USB cable of the Apple Watch goes. Then you know for sure that the smartwatch is supplied with enough electricity for the charging process.
Do not use third-party alternatives and do not plug the USB cable into a laptop or other port. Only use official Apple accessories. Also make sure to charge the Watch for at least six hours before continuing to trade.
If this does not help, check whether another, official, cable gives a different result. It is possible that the used cable is broken on the inside, for whatever reason. In addition, it can help to drain the Apple Watch completely.
Take it off your wrist and put it on the cupboard, and don’t charge it for now. It can take up to a week for the system to be completely empty. You know for sure that the Watch is empty the moment those annoying snakes disappear from view. After deflating, you can try charging it once.
Reset Apple Watch
Finally, you can try to hard reset the Apple Watch. You force the smartwatch to restart all internal systems, which may cause the problem to disappear. You can do this while you have the Watch on the charger.

To do this, press the crown and the power button for ten seconds. If all goes well, the screen will go black; then the smartwatch turns off. The device will then turn on by itself. If this also doesn’t help, contact Apple customer service, as there may be something else going on.
