Apple’s presents the most robust and versatile Watch yet with the Watch Ultra 2. It’s even better now, with increased performance, a new ‘Tap Double’ gesture and carbon neutral options.
Apple introduced a number of new products on September 12, including a new series of iPhone 15 and the AirPods Pro second generation. In this article you can read about the also new Apple Watch Ultra 2. It has new features for Apple’s most versatile and robust smartwatch and an important environmental milestone. Apple Watch Ultra 2 runs watchOS 10 with updated apps, a new smart stack, new features for cyclists and other outdoor activities, plus the new Modular Ultra watch face. Even with all these improvements, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 has a battery life of 36 hours in normal use and up to 72 hours in power saving mode. For the first time, users of any Apple Watch model can choose a carbon neutral option, an important step towards ‘Apple 2030’: Apple’s commitment to make the entire supply chain and lifecycle of every product carbon neutral by 2030 . PC-Active previously wrote about a previous Apple Watch with the Apple Watch 7.
New S9 SiP
Apple Watch Ultra 2 is powered by specially designed Apple silicon in the all-new S9 SiP. Thanks to this most powerful Watch chip ever, Apple has been able to improve the entire system and add new features. For example, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 now features a ‘double tap’ gesture and the ability to privately and securely access and record health data via on-device Siri. Apple Watch Ultra 2 also includes a new 4-core Neural Engine that processes machine learning tasks much faster than the original Apple Watch Ultra.
Brighter display
The latest Apple Watch Ultra 2 display delivers up to 3,000 nits of brightness, 50% brighter than the first-generation Apple Watch Ultra. This is the brightest display Apple has ever made, making it easy to read even in bright sunlight. You can also lower the display brightness to just one nit, which can be useful if you don’t want to disturb people nearby.
WatchOS 10
Apple Watch Ultra 2 runs on watchOS 10, an important update that includes:
• a fresh interface that gives you a different view of the updated apps and a new smart stack in which you always see the right widgets;
• In addition to Modular Ultra, you can choose from even more fun new dials: Snoopy, Palette, Sun Position analogue and Nike Globe;
• Night mode now switches on automatically when it is dark, using the ambient light sensor;
• new for cyclists: the ability to connect power meters, speed sensors and cadence sensors via Bluetooth, giving you access to new measurements, workout views and cycling workouts. With power zones you get the most out of your training;
• the updated Compass app displays your current altitude and provides a 3D view of the relative altitude of your waypoints;
• Maps contains new topographical maps with information such as points of interest and starting points of hiking trails, as well as shadows to indicate hills, contour lines, elevation changes and SOS waypoints where you can reach and go in an emergency;
