Apple Watch Ultra: Customize and personalize the action button

The Apple Watch Ultra is designed to make it easier to operate without using the screen. For example, the Digital Crown is larger with deeper grooves and the side button protrudes so that you can easily operate it with gloves. The action button is also worth mentioning.

You can use this customizable button to play a siren in an emergency, but also to start apps or commands. While using some apps, the action button works as a smart shortcut. We explain how you can customize and personalize this button.

Customize Apple Watch action button

  1. Open the Settings app on the Apple Watch
  2. Tap the action button
  3. Navigate to ‘Action’ and then select what you want the button to start

Return to the settings action button to save the changes. Tap the menu under ‘App’ when it appears, then select an app to perform the action. Some actions, such as Flashlight, do not display the app option.

Set Apple Watch action button

Tap the menu under ‘First press’ when it appears, then select an action. Some functions allow different actions on the first and second press of the button. Of course, you can also customize the action button via the Apple Watch app on your iPhone via the ‘My Watch’ tab.

You can configure actions related to these apps and features:

  • Workout
  • Stopwatch

Siren in case of emergency

Are you in trouble and want to raise the alarm? This is possible with the built-in siren in the Apple Watch ultra. By pressing and holding the action button, an 86 dB alarm will sound after a few moments, which can be heard up to 180 meters away. This is intended to attract help during an emergency.
