Perhaps you have already noticed that video titles and descriptions on YouTube have recently been automatically translated into Dutch. This is an automatic process with the help of artificial intelligence; Unfortunately it sometimes goes wrong.
Unfortunately this sometimes happens inaccurately. In some cases, the translated titles contain errors and (brand) names are often translated incorrectly. Unfortunately, there is no possibility to switch off the automatic translation of titles, but you can bypass this in a different way.

Automatic translation YouTube videos
The automatic translation of video titles and descriptions on YouTube can be quite frustrating, especially since this function cannot be switched off via a standard setting. The only solution at the moment is to change the language of YouTube to English. You will do this especially if you watch many English -language videos.
Change Youtube language to English
- Open the Youtube website
- Click on your profile photo or the three dots at the top right
- Click on ‘Language: Dutch’
- Select ‘English (US)’

On an iPhone or iPad you can adjust this by changing the language of the app to English.
- Open settings
- Go to ‘Apps’
- Tap ‘YouTube’
- Select ‘Language’
- Choose ‘English’
Everything in English
Because you cannot switch off the automatic translation, the only solution is to change the full YouTube app to English. The advantage is that YouTube titles are again visible in English, but also the entire app, including menus. So for the time being it is choosing, and the solution in both situations is not ideal. In addition, it is possible that videos from Dutch -speaking YouTubers are now translated into English.
