Has your iPhone battery been acting crazy since iOS 14.6? You’re not the only one. Many iPhone users have been facing all kinds of battery issues since the update. Therefore, we give four tips to solve the problems of iOS 14.6.
iOS 14.6 battery troubleshooting: 4 tips
At the end of May, Apple released iOS 14.6. The modest update brought few new features to the iPhone, but a lot of problems. iPhone users mainly complain about their iPhone battery. Since the update, this drains faster, or the battery percentage changes continuously.
Our iOS 14.6 poll shows that many readers of iPhoned face these problems. 66 percent of voters say they have had all kinds of battery issues since iOS 14.6. Therefore, here are some tips to solve the problems.
1. Take on the bogeyman
The iPhone can tell you exactly how much energy your apps are using. Once you know this, you can kill this app by removing it, or force closing it.
Grab your iPhone, go to the Settings app, scroll down and tap “Battery.” Here you can see an overview of which apps use the most power.
On the internet we read many stories that the Podcasts app is the big bogeyman, even when it is (almost) not used. Is this the case with you too? Then try to uninstall the app. In the same way, you can also track down other energy-guzzling apps and cut the neck.
2. Turn off automatic refresh
Many apps ‘refresh’ automatically in the background. That’s great, because you also receive e-mails when you don’t have the app open yourself.
But, of course, this does cost energy. Therefore, try to disable this function. You do this via the Settings app of your iPhone. Tap ‘General’, choose ‘Background Refresh’ and turn the option off.
3. Leave your iPhone on the charger overnight
It is normal for your phone to drain faster after completing an iOS update. Your device has to complete all kinds of tasks in the background and that costs power.
Did you just download iOS 14.6? Then leave your device on the charger for a little longer, for example while you sleep. This gives your device the opportunity to put things in order without running out of battery capacity.
4. Extend battery life
It’s an old trick, but it still works sometimes. When your iPhone battery is draining very quickly, you can activate the Power Saving Mode. You can find this option in the Battery window of the Settings app and it makes your phone more efficient with your battery.
For example, downloads are temporarily paused. It’s not a permanent solution, but perhaps the Energy Saving Mode will ensure that your iPhone makes it to the end of the day again.
