Bargains! The 'Offers' button for the Play Store is now rolling out

Attention Dutch people: Google’s Play Store will have a section especially dedicated to bargains. We previously wrote that it was coming, but it is currently being rolled out.

Crowds in the Play Store

There are complaints that it makes the bottom bar in the store a bit chaotic. Under the tab you will see offers related to apps you might like, games that are on sale and deals on movie purchases. And let’s be honest: the Dutch love bargains. For example, you can also purchase ebooks at a discount.

Here’s how to find out if you already have the tab: First, make sure you’ve downloaded the most recent update of the app and look in the bottom bar. Normally there are Games, Apps, Movies and Books, but with the new ‘offers’ button there would be an extra button in the middle between Apps and Movies. You can recognize it by an icon with a price tag.

Offerings

Below the button you see the cover images of the apps and games, which are somewhat larger than normal, including the expiry date of a deal. After all, nothing will convince people to buy something as quickly as a ticking clock. You can also see information about the app or game below it.

The Play Store is changing a lot. For example, we recently wrote about the new filters in the Play Store, with which you see a green button at the top left with ‘This device’. You can filter to install an app on the default device or on another device. That is, if they are linked to your Google account. You can think of Wear OS smartwatches or Android TV devices.

Rollout

We haven’t spotted the Offers button on devices in the newsroom yet, so Google may have chosen to roll it out in groups or location-wise.

Do you already have the ‘Offers’ button? Leave it below this article.
