Apple and Belkin have had a good collaboration for years, and Belkin is always there when new Apple products are launched. In recent years, the company has released several MagSafe products. We have previously tested this stylish charger, now it is the turn of the BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 charging station.
The charging station is equipped with a MagSafe 15W wireless charging surface for the iPhone, an adjustable charging module for the Apple Watch with fast charging and a 5W charging surface to wirelessly charge AirPods and other Qi devices.
You connect the charging station to the mains power using the supplied adapter. So you only use one power point to charge three devices at the same time. A great solution for a bedside table or desk.
Sleek charging station
Unlike Belkin’s first generation 3-in-1 MagSafe charger, the design of the new BoostCharge Pro is less pronounced. With the previous model, the iPhone and Apple Watch floated, now they lie flat on the charging station. This means that the charger can best be described as a flat charging dock.
This offers two advantages: it is easier to take the charger with you when traveling and it blends in more with the environment. Both the iPhone and Watch stay in place thanks to the magnetic connection, a solution for wireless charging.
Adjustable Apple Watch charger
The advantage of the Apple Watch charger is the adjustability of the charging puck. You can charge the smart watch either lying down or on its side. This also makes it suitable for the Apple Watch night clock mode on a bedside table.
All you have to do is push the charging puck up from the bottom of the charger. This will then be at an angle of 90º upwards. The hinge is sturdy and thanks to a spring mechanism the puck stays upright.
That is not the only flexibility that the Watch charger has. At the bottom of the charging station there is a turning circle incorporated at the base of the Apple Watch charger. You can adjust this so that the charging point can be raised. This way you can adjust the charger perfectly for smaller or larger Apple Watch models, so you can also charge the Apple Watch Ultra in landscape position.
Fast charging for iPhone and Apple Watch
For now, Belkin is the only manufacturer that offers fast charging for the Apple Watch series 7 or newer. Full MagSafe support
MagSafe is more than a magnetic ring to attach the device. Thanks to official support, the 3-in-1 Belkin Charging Pad can charge faster wirelessly at up to 15W. Normally the iPhone is limited to 7.5W charging via Qi, but MagSafe products support fast charging up to 15W. The Qi charger for AirPods has a maximum power of 5W.
The charging station in practice
The charging station is available in a white and black finish and the bottom has an anti-slip coating. When you remove your iPhone from the charger, the charging station remains stable and you can remove the iPhone with one hand.
The magnets for iPhone and Apple Watch are strong enough to stay in place. The charging point for the AirPods is equipped with an LED indicator. This turns white when a device is being charged wirelessly. If something goes wrong, it turns orange.
This can happen if you do not place a device properly on the charging surface or if there is an object on the charging surface that cannot be charged. The LED light only provides information on the charging point for the AirPods, it does not provide information about the battery status of the device.
Speaking of AirPods, the charging point can also be used for other Qi-enabled devices. This means that you can also charge another iPhone, smartphone or wireless accessories, for example.
Now we have to admit that the AirPods part is unnecessary in most situations. You can also charge the AirPods via the iPhone charger and some models even via the Apple Watch charger in landscape orientation. Still, it is a handy addition and ensures that you have enough space for the other devices.
Use of covers
If you want to use a case in combination with the iPhone or AirPods, that is no problem, as long as it is not thicker than 3mm. So you don’t have to remove the case if you want to charge a device. It is recommended that the iPhone case has a magnetic MagSafe ring so that it is powerful enough to stay in place.
