Secretly taking an Instagram Story screenshot is no longer possible from today. From now on, recipients will be notified when you save a screenshot. But there is a way to get around this.
This is how the Instagram screenshot notification works
You could share a screenshot of an Instagram Story with others until today without the creator knowing about it. Now the social network is putting a stop to this by rolling out a feature that has been tested for all users since the beginning of this year.
The next time you take a screenshot of a Story, a new notification will appear on the screen. This warns that the creator of the Instagram Story will be notified the next time you take a screenshot. He or she then knows exactly who made an image.
The measure of Instagram is not new, Snapchat has also added this method for some time. The apps want to prevent the content of Stories from being permanently shared. After all, the Stories feature allows you to share photos and videos that are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
This is how you bypass an Instagram notification
If you still want to take a screenshot without the other knowing about it, there are two things you can do, like this discovered tech journalist Daniel Verlaan on Twitter.
- Open the Instagram Story, turn on Airplane mode and take a screenshot. Since your iPhone is not connected to the internet while taking the screenshot, a notification cannot be sent.
- Do not open Instagram in the app but on the website in Safari. Then you can just take a screenshot.
Share and record stories
In addition to the above function, Instagram is also testing a way to record the messages of others and place them in your own Story. That way you can show someone’s Story to all of your followers. Don’t want your stories to be shared this way? Then you can turn it off in the settings. For the time being, this function is still being tested with a limited number of users.
