Check if bluetooth is turned on

If bluetooth on your iPhone does not work, you may have turned off Bluetooth. The fastest way to check this is with the control panel.

On an iPhone with Face ID, swipe down from the top right corner. On older iPhones with a home button, swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen. Is the bubble with the Bluetooth logo blue? Then Bluetooth is on. Otherwise, tap the bubble to turn on Bluetooth. Incidentally, it sometimes also helps to turn the button off and on again when Bluetooth does not work on your iPhone.

The option to turn Bluetooth on (or off) can also be found under ‘Settings > Bluetooth’. Check here whether the button behind Bluetooth is on.

Restart your iPhone or iPad

Often the easiest solution when Bluetooth is not working is to restart your iPhone or iPad. All Bluetooth connections will then be disconnected. To restart your iPhone, perform the following steps.

iPhones such as the iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 without a home button can all be turned off in the same way. For a reboot, simply turn your phone back on after this procedure.

Restart iPhone if Bluetooth on iPhone not working

  1. Press and hold one of the volume buttons and the side button;

  2. Wait for the ‘Turn off’ slider to appear and drag the slider to the right;
