Bose Smart Soundbar 900 and the many audio techniques

Audio manufacturer Bose has once again come up with a new soundbar, with the name Smart Soundbar 900. The wide television bar also supports Spatial technology, which means that Dolby Atmos content should come into its own.

In any case, the Spatial technology sounds somewhat impressive on paper. That technology ensures that different layers in the audio – such as musical instruments and voices – are separated, making it seem as if they are coming at you from different angles of the room. You don’t necessarily need Dolby Atmos for this; this also works with other content.

In addition, there is something like Bose PhaseGuide, to keep it all clear. This technology in turn must ensure an exact positioning of sound sources, which can come from a left or right corner. Even when there are no speakers… That’s quite a promise, but let’s be honest: soundbars are more often able to convince.

Many Bose audio technologies

Even without Dolby Atmos, horizontal spatial effects should therefore sound good, Bose promises, while Bose TrueSpace takes care of the vertical dimension. The soundbar mixes the signals, creating height in the audio experience. You don’t need a ceiling speaker for that. Well, those are all nice words, but something like this convinces (or not) only in practice.

Then we have ADAPTiQ. This is a technology that fixes some distortion in the audio experience, as it were. It may be that some furniture in the house throws a spanner in the works for a pure audio experience, but ADAPTiQ can prevent that. And all while connecting the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 to the television with just one HDMI arc cable.

Immediately multi-room possibilities

Furthermore, the soundbar with the original name supports WiFi and Bluetooth and that there is support for both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. In addition, there is also an app for direct operation. In addition, the TV bar works with Spotify Connect, Apple’s AirPlay 2 and some smart speakers from the company, giving you immediate access to multi-room audio.

The soundbar has dimensions of 5.82 by approximately 10 by 104 centimeters, making it suitable for most televisions of 50 inches or larger. The Bose Smart Soundbar 900 will be available in the Netherlands from the end of March and has a price of 999.95 euros. So you pay just under a thousand euros for it. Given the number of audio techniques Bose crammed into it, the price is somewhat explicable.
