Camera app Halide gets major update: this is new

Our favorite camera app Halide has received two major improvements in a major update. But the developers are also talking about a new, second app.

Halide releases version 1.12

In version 1.12 of Halide an important function has been added and a popular feature improved. It is now possible to view an RGB histogram of a photo in the app.

With an RGB histogram you can see how the colors are distributed in a photo and whether a certain color appears too little. If you have the right exposure for a photo, this can cause a color to remain.

For example, if you take a photo of red roses, you will see that there is not enough red ‘color data’ in the photo. This way you know that you can make the photo even more beautiful by shooting it underexposed and editing it. In the photo above you can see the difference, with the photo on the right after checking the RGB histogram.

An already existing and useful feature in Halide is Smart RAW, a modified version of RAW photography that automatically enhances the photos. This feature is even smarter in this update, as the app now uses machine learning to compose the best possible RAW photo.

Creators tease second app

The app developed by a Dutchman is perfect for anyone who wants to shoot RAW photos. But in addition, you will find all kinds of other extras so that you can photograph the way you want. In addition, Halide supports the Portrait function, so you can take a photo to adjust the effect afterwards.

But apparently it doesn’t stop there. When this update is released, the makers also let you know that a new, second app is on the way. It is also unknown what exactly this application will entail and when it will appear.
