Can I become a doctor if I am in TSO?

I am currently in the 6th year of Computer Science Management. But unfortunately I can’t say it’s something I want to do for the rest of my life. That is why I have already looked for other courses. I would like to get a university degree. My interests are in history and biology. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten a single hour of biology for two years now. I still get one hour of history a week. Do you think I can handle this (I know it’s an impossible question, but I’ll ask anyway..) and are the studies tough, or is this more of a “fabrication”?

Answer

Dear Jannes,

This is indeed an ‘impossible’ question to answer for someone who doesn’t know you, and who can’t talk to you. So I can’t tell you whether it is best to study history, medicine, biology, … and whether you will be able to do that. After all, it is best to make a choice of study yourself, with the support and advice of people in your environment who can estimate what you like to do, can do well, want to do later, … . That is why it is best to consult your parents and your teachers. There will certainly be talk at your school this year about what you and your classmates are going to do next year. You can also contact the CLB (info: http://www.ond.vlaanderen.be/CLB/) or a SID-in (info: http://www.ond.vlaanderen.be/sidin/) .

However, I would like to give you the following. To be allowed to start in the Medicine programme, you must pass an entrance exam. You will find all information about this via this link http://www.ond.vlaanderen.be/toelatingsexamen/default.htm.

Good luck,

Saskia
