I wonder if it is possible to make alcohol from the sweetener “Canderel”.

Answer
Hi Bass,
Canderel is a brand name of low-calorie sweeteners. These contain no sugar and can therefore not be fermented into alcohol.
More specifically, the classic Canderel contains aspartame and acesulfame K. These are high-intensity sweeteners, they are MUCH sweeter than sugar. Acesulfame K and aspartame are about 200 times sweeter than sugar. Aspartame is especially controversial. A safer alternative are steviol glycosides (which also cannot be converted to alcohol!).
