Windows 7 is no longer supported and various organizations are doing their best to get users to switch from Microsoft’s operating system to something else. Canonical, the organization behind Ubuntu, is also participating.

Rhys Davies, product manager at Canonical, explains in a blog post out why users should switch from Windows 7 to Ubuntu and pull the hardware card.
“Windows 7 has reached the end of its life. It will no longer receive security updates and Microsoft technical support will stop. Running an outdated OS can pose serious potential risks, ”writes Davies. “Fortunately, there are two simple ways to solve this problem: 1. Buy a new computer with a different operating system, or 2. Install Linux on any computer you want. In this blog we are talking about the Linux option, especially Ubuntu. ”
Davies also writes that users do not have to worry that they will have to miss or replace a lot of software. “You can continue to use your old favorites such as Google Chrome, WordPress, Blender and Skype. With these apps, most PC users will be able to function normally. You can continue to search the web, listen to music, watch movies, talk to your friends and download new apps. Moreover, you can use thousands of other apps designed and built by the community to discover.”
The product manager also writes that finding and installing new apps is easy thanks to the Ubuntu Software Center and the Snap store. He also praises the huge community behind Ubuntu, the security of the operating system and the long support.
